Summary

The SCADA Engineer is responsible for providing technical support for the Energy Management System (EMS) and Distribution Management System (DMS) which are used to operate the GRE transmission system and monitor member-owner cooperative distribution systems.

A typical starting range for this position is $85,000 - $130,000 + annually. Responsibilities
  • Providing technical support in the development and maintenance of the EMS and DMS databases.
  • Monitoring the function of the EMS/DMS including the network, data links, and Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) communications equipment to ensure proper operation.
  • Ensuring EMS/DMS infrastructures, technologies, tools, and architectures are appropriately deployed and documented to meet System Operations’ needs.
  • Working with Member-Owner Cooperatives and other DMS partners on configuration and implementation of the distribution system.
  • Providing technical support to the IT Development Services department to meet the needs of the System Operations department.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree (or advanced) in electrical engineering or education required to qualify for the written Professional Engineering Examination as required by the State Board of Engineering, and
  • Typically, 0-4+ years of experience in an engineering or science-related position within the utility or a related industry.
  • Fundamentals of Engineering certification is preferred.
  • Knowledge of electrical transmission/distribution systems and their operation.
  • Knowledge of SCADA fundamentals, Remote Terminal Units, communications systems, networking, and Linux OS.
  • Skilled in problem analysis with the ability to make appropriate decisions regarding the disposition of issues through their resolution or escalation to a higher level.
  • Verbal and written communication skills. Skilled at effectively communicating with both technical and non-technical resources.
  • Ability to research, analyze, and make recommendations related to engineering decisions.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective work relationships, both internal and external, and establish credibility with business partners. Ability to work within a team environment.
  • Skill in conflict resolution including the ability to address differences in opinions or facts and use the most appropriate method to reach an effective solution.
  • Ability and responsibility to work safely alone and with others while following GRE safety rules, certifications and procedures.
