Job summary

United Power is seeking a System Operator to perform electrical system operations, dispatching, and outage management. The role focuses on monitoring power flows, ensuring reliability, coordinating field personnel, and maintaining accurate records across OMS and GIS systems.

Qualifications

• Must have a good working knowledge of an electrical distribution system.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to work with the public and employees.
• Willingness to learn new procedures and techniques; able to operate telephone equipment, radio dispatching, and email.

Responsibilities

• Monitors electrical system power flows, automations, power quality and system anomalies; safely operates SCADA software.
• Analyzes outages and coordinates field personnel for line repair and service restoration; documents outage tickets and statistics.
• Coordinates communication with internal staff regarding feeder or substation outages.
• Updates and maintains all electric system operations data, including real-time status and GIS mapping information.
• Provides guidance to contractors, troubleshooters and crews on switching, isolation, restoration and fault location.
• Creates, expands, and maintains switching orders; monitors execution and updates GIS mapping on completion.
