Job summary

Ajax Building Company, part of STO Building Group, is seeking a relationship-driven Project Development Manager to grow our presence and project pipeline across South Carolina, with a focus on Charleston and the Lowcountry. You will identify opportunities, build trusted client and partner relationships, and lead pursuit strategy through RFQ/RFP responses and interviews.

The ideal candidate brings construction-market knowledge, strong communication skills, and a track record building pipelines

Qualifications

• 5+ years of construction-industry experience, preferably including project development, business development, sales, marketing, preconstruction, or operations
• Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, construction management, or related field; equivalent relevant experience will be considered
• Knowledge of public-sector and institutional construction markets preferred
• Strong understanding of construction concepts, project delivery methods, and pursuit practices
• Demonstrated ability to build relationships, develop professional networks, and advance business opportunities
• Excellent written, verbal, presentation, listening, and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple pursuits simultaneously
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat; Salesforce or other CRM experience preferred
• Ability to travel as needed and periodically attend evening and weekend events

Responsibilities

• Research South Carolina markets to identify target clients, emerging opportunities, and industry trends
• Build and manage a strong pipeline through proactive prospecting, networking, and relationship development
• Develop trusted relationships with clients, architects, engineers, consultants, and industry partners
• Partner with senior leadership to establish regional growth strategies, goals, and pursuit priorities
• Review and qualify RFQs, RFPs, and other opportunities, contributing to informed go/no-go decisions
• Coordinate pursuit strategy, proposals, presentations, and interviews with marketing, preconstruction, operations, and leadership teams
• Maintain accurate client, opportunity, pursuit, and pipeline information in Salesforce
• Represent Ajax through professional associations, civic organizations, conferences, networking events, and other market-facing activities
• Promote a collaborative, team-oriented environment and uphold Ajax’s commitment to quality
