Santiam Hospital & Clinics in Stayton, OR is seeking a dedicated Single Billing Office Specialist (SBO) to handle patient billing inquiries and guide patients through financial assistance processes. The role emphasizes accuracy, teamwork, and compliance with state and federal regulations.

You'll work on-site full-time (40 hours/week), in the Revenue Cycle department, interacting with patients and hospital staff to resolve complex billing questions and support financial assistance applications.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of patient accounts and medical insurance terminology.
• Aptitude for verbal and written communication with diverse patients.
• US citizenship or right to work in the United States required.
• Driver's license or acceptable identification required.
• Willingness to participate in hospital orientation and training.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Revenue Cycle staff on SBO operations and customer relations.
• Handle work queue tasks as assigned by SBO lead.
• Assist with converting accounts to bad debt with collection agencies as needed.
• Respond to queries via hospital health information management system.
• Facilitate patient participation in financial assistance programs in compliance with laws.
• Support routine SBO processes such as deposits and handling returned mail.

Who You’ll Join:

Come be a part of Santiam Hospital & Clinics dedicated Revenue Cycle department as our new Single Billing Office Specialist (SBO). In this crucial role, you will be on the front lines of customer relations, resolving complex patient billing inquiries, and guiding individuals through financial assistance applications in strict compliance with all state and federal regulations.

Position Type: Full-time, 40 hours/week, Non-Exempt, On-Site. Salary Range: $20.00 - $29.37

What You’ll Do:

• Through collaboration with Revenue Cycle Department staff members who perform SBO functions, participate in Department activity that related to SBO operations and customer relations.
• Attend to work queue tasks as assigned by SBO lead.
• Through coordination with applicable collection agencies, assist with conversion of applicable patient accounts from receivable to bad debt.
• Promptly and appropriately respond to queries submitted via the Hospital health information management system to SBO Staff.
• Facilitate and process Hospital patient participation in applicable Hospital financial assistance programs, while ensuring that state and federal requirements for such participation are continuously met.
• Assist with outer routine SBO process (e.g. which might relate to daily deposits, returned mail or patient bad debt or bankruptcy.

QualificationsWhat You’ll Need:

• Knowledge of principles that relate to patient accounts, including pertinent medical insurance terminology
• Aptitude of verbal and written communication, including ability to communicate with people from all age groups
• Possession of United States proof of citizenship or right to work in the United States
• Possession of a driver license of analogous identification
• Willingness to participate in Hospital orientation and educational in-service
