SBM Maintenance Technician

Job Description

Under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for executing daily maintenance activities. Employees must understand the importance of their activities in maintaining food safety and report any issues that may impact food quality.

Responsibilities include:

• Partnering with other technicians and maintenance staff on critical tasks.
• Completing monthly preventative maintenance.
• Inputting and executing work orders.
• Performing daily rounds and equipment readings.
• Installing or repairing building fixtures, doors, piping, and masonry.
• Understanding HVAC, steam piping, electrical systems, and high-pressure steam.
• Possessing basic welding, fabrication, and pipe-fitting skills (preferred).
• Applying general mechanical skills.
• Knowing food processing equipment and safety protocols.
• Supporting projects with internal teams and contractors.
• Using computer systems for maintenance and purchase orders.
• Inspecting equipment and products for cleanliness and foreign materials.

Additional duties include:

• Performing maintenance in accordance with policies, GMPs, and safety standards.
• Ensuring the safe operation of shop and pilot plant equipment.
• Responding to trouble calls and performing preventive maintenance.
• Communicating project status and managing multiple priorities.

Safety and Quality Responsibilities:

• Wearing PPE, adhering to safety training and policies, and reporting unsafe conditions.
• Participating in audits and developing corrective actions.

Equipment Operated: Forklifts, welding tools, power tools, production equipment, EAM system.

Lifting Requirements: Up to 50 pounds, with assistance for heavier items.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required; trades certifications preferred.
• Proficient with EAM systems, spreadsheets, and databases.
