Fifth Third Bank is seeking an experienced SBA Lead Underwriter to review and decide small business loan requests within approved authority. You will mentor junior underwriters, perform financial analysis, and structure deals in collaboration with Relationship Managers and SBA groups across the bank.

Qualifikationen

• College degree in accounting, finance, or economics or equivalent industry experience required.
• Total work experience of 5 years including 2 to 4 years of underwriting, credit, or originations experience preferable in the banking or investment banking industry.
• Thorough working knowledge of SBA SOP 50-10-6 and other SOP program guides.
• Excellent knowledge of B2B, CCAS, nCino, AFS, Appraisal systems, CLAS/LaserPro Loan Doc Prep Systems (or equivalent vendor systems), and other banking systems preferred.
• Must be proficient in basic software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and InternetExplorer.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel a plus.
• Must be attentive to detail and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be highly organized and able to manage several detailed tasks and processes concurrently.

Aufgaben

• Underwriting focus on new money to new borrowers to the bank.
• Collaborate with relationship managers on initial deal review, modeling and structuring.
• Coordinate with RM's for deal pre-clearance within SBA groups and other constituents.
• Gather due diligence information from customers/prospects and third-party providers.
• Prepare the credit approval document and terms changes.
• Coordinate with RM and Credit to obtain proper credit approval.
• Develop training and education guidelines for SBA lending.
• Ensure adherence to SBA policies and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain knowledge of SBA products and alert leadership to new SBA developments.
• Engage and manage legal counsel and negotiate documentation with RM.
• Oversee closing, funding, and booking in cooperation with Funding Desk and Credit Collateral Operations.
• Complete post-closing items and underwriting amendments/ restructurings.
• Complete special projects as requested.
