First Merchants Bank is seeking an SBL Closing Specialist III to join our team. The role oversees the closing process from approval to funding, ensuring compliance with SBA and bank requirements. The position includes coaching staff, leading training, and developing procedures to improve efficiency.

Responsibilities include organizing files, coordinating appraisals, title work, and third-party reports, while maintaining exceptional customer service and meeting deadlines for multiple loans.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or relevant field.
• 7+ years of related experience in loan closing or SBA processes.
• Demonstrated management, leadership and coaching skills.
• Experience with LaserPro closing software.
• Strong organization and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple loans.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the closing process from approval to funding and final file completion.
• Coach, mentor, and develop staff; act as lead trainer and protocol developer as needed.
• Order appraisals, environmental reports, title work, and third-party data.
• Prepare closing documents and ensure SBA and internal bank compliance.
• Review loan documents, UCC filings, and closing statements for accuracy.
• Manage time and priorities to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
