Job summary

First Merchants is seeking an SBL Closing Specialist III to manage all aspects of the closing process from approval through funding. You will coach and develop staff, act as a lead trainer, and ensure SBA and internal bank requirements are met.

You will organize files, coordinate appraisals and title work, review documents, and maintain excellent customer service while handling multiple loan submissions in a time-sensitive environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or relevant field.
• 7+ years of related experience in loan operations or closing.
• Demonstrated leadership, coaching and mentoring skills.
• Experience with LaserPro is required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of the closing process from approval to funding.
• Coach, mentor and develop staff; act as lead trainer when needed.
• Ensure SBA and internal bank requirements are met and files are complete.
• Coordinate third-party reports, appraisals, title work and tax transcripts.
• Review closing documents and ensure accurate lien perfection on collateral.
• Manage multiple loan submissions and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Maintain superior customer service for internal and external clients.
