Baillie Group's Midwest Hardwoods division in Wisconsin seeks a hands-on Sawmill Manager to direct sawmill and kiln operations. You will lead safety, production, maintenance and quality efforts, collaborating with maintenance and procurement to drive continuous improvement.

The role emphasizes on-floor leadership, workforce development, cost control and adherence to safety standards to meet company objectives.

Qualifications

4-year degree in a related field is a plus, but not required.
Experience in sawmill, kiln, concentration yard, or related hardwood lumber operations preferred; other wood products backgrounds considered.
Proven ability to respectfully manage a diverse workforce.
Proficient in MS Excel, Word and Outlook.

Responsabilités

Coordinate activities with buyers, lumber sales, mill and drying operation to meet objectives.
Ensure safe operation by training employees in safe practices and maintaining OSHA compliance.
Control labor costs, manpower, wages and overtime.
Establish and monitor plant performance for production and quality standards.
Monitor sawing to maximize log utilization and minimize waste.
Maintain a preventative maintenance plan to reduce downtime.
Oversee capital asset maintenance.
Manage labor overtime and repair expenses.
Provide leadership and development to managers and supervisors.
Enforce plant organization, housekeeping and cleanliness.
Encourage and foster high morale among the workforce.
