Job summary

Skyworks Solutions, Inc. is offering an internship program designed for college students enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD program. Interns gain real work experience, exposure to upper management, and opportunities for full-time roles as available.

The SAW R&D Integration Internships are part of the Technology & Manufacturing group, with projects assigned based on business needs and opportunities to present to business leaders at the end of the internship.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing an MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• Strong knowledge of plasma physics and semiconductor device physics.
• Experience with semiconductor failure analysis and material characterization (SEM, STEM, EDS).
• Familiarity with Python for scientific computing and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Design experiments for surface acoustic wave filter process integration.
• Assist in optimizing interfaces for reduced losses and improved reliability.
• Perform failure analysis using STEM/EDS and other metrology techniques.
• Collaborate with fab process engineers and lab technicians.

Skyworks' SAW R&D Integration Internships are offered in our Technology & Manufacturing (TMG) business. Specific projects and responsibilities will be determined based on the business needs at the time of the internship assignment.

Responsibilities

• Design of experiments for surface acoustic wave filter process integration
• Optimization of metal-to-metal interfaces for improved ohmic losses and mechanical reliability
• Failure analysis of via interfaces by STEM, EDS, EELS, and other metrology
• Collaborate with fab process engineers and lab technicians

Required Experience and Skills

• Working toward a MS or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of plasma physics and semiconductor device physics.
• Background in semiconductor failure analysis and material characterization like SEM, STEM, EDS, etc.
• Understanding of material properties, interfaces, defects and failure mechanisms
• Familiarity with Python for scientific computing and data analysis.
• Strong communication/listening skills.
• Ability to work autonomously.

Desired Experience and Skills

• Experience with semiconductor equipment and fabrication processes (lithography, PVD, CVD, plasma etch, etc.).
• Knowledge of semiconductor device physics, process modeling, and physics-based simulation.
• Exposure to process development and material characterization.
• Skills in statistics and data analytics for process evaluation.

The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $29.00 - $49.00 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $23.00 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
