Job summary

BICO Steel is seeking a dependable Saw Operator at the BICO-MI location to join our manufacturing team. You will set up, operate, and maintain saw equipment to cut raw materials per customer specifications and production needs.

The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and efficiency, with responsibilities ranging from reading work orders and blueprints to inspecting finished pieces and maintaining records. A strong attention to detail and teamwork are essential for success.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience operating manufacturing equipment in production.
• Able to read measuring devices including tape measures, calipers, and micrometers.
• Ability to read and understand production documents and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Operate band saws, circular saws, and other cutting equipment according to production schedules.
• Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, drawings, and material specifications.
• Measure and verify material dimensions to ensure accuracy and quality standards.
• Set up equipment and adjust machine settings based on material type and required cut specifications.
• Inspect materials before and after cutting to identify defects or quality concerns.
• Maintain production records, material usage logs, and completed work orders.
• Safely load, unload, and move materials using forklifts, cranes, hoists, or other material handling equipment as authorized.
• Perform routine machine maintenance, inspections, and housekeeping activities.
• Report equipment malfunctions, quality issues, and safety concerns to supervision.
• Work closely with production, shipping, and quality teams to meet customer requirements and delivery schedules.
• Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and PPE requirements.
• Assist with additional production duties as needed.
