STS Metals in Irwindale, CA is hiring a Production Operator - Saws to operate sawing equipment, perform setups, monitor quality, and follow safety standards.

You'll work first or second shift with overtime as needed, use measuring tools, load material with a forklift, and record data.

This role requires a high school diploma, forklift certification, and strong attention to detail; 5S practices and teamwork are valued.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and understand work orders and cutting instructions, both written and on computer program.
• Must have knowledge of saws, blades, guards, feeding devices and coolant flow.
• Must be able to communicate, verbally and written, with managers and coworkers.
• Must maintain quality practices and safety standards.
• Must be forklift operations and safety certified.
• Must be able to work overtime as required.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor equipment per SOPs and safety rules.
• Perform basic setups, adjustments, and preventive checks.
• Conduct in-process quality inspections and document results.
• Record production data including quantities and times.
• Collaborate with team to meet production targets.
• Maintain 5S and clean, organized work area.
• Report malfunctions, safety or quality issues promptly.
• Cross-train and support other areas as needed.
• Use PPE (glasses, gloves, ear protection, steel-toe shoes).
• Work overtime as needed.

We proudly serve the aerospace, medical, industrial, and space industries with a commitment to innovation, manufacturing excellence, and superior customer service.The Production Operator - Saws is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining equipment and processes to produce high-quality materials in a safe and efficient manner. This position requires adherence to safety standards, quality requirements, and production schedules. Operators may be assigned to specific equipment or processes depending on business needs. Typical work hours are Monday-Friday 5:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. for First Shift or 3:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m. for Second Shift, with flexibility required for business needs. Frequent overtime may be required. This is a full-time Non-Exempt position.Operate and monitor assigned equipment in compliance with standard operating procedures and safety requirements.Perform basic setups, adjustments, and preventive checks to maintain machine performance.Conduct in-process quality inspections and document results.Handle raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods safely and efficiently.Record production data accurately, including quantities, times, and inspection results.Collaborate with team members, leads, and supervisors to meet production targets.Maintain a clean and organized work environment; follow 5S and housekeeping standards.Report equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or quality issues promptly.Cross-train and provide support in other areas as required.Regular use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toe shoes.Ability to work in environments with extreme heat, noise, dust, and chemicals depending on specialized area.Specialized Areas:Saws: Operates sawing equipment to cut material to specified sizes with accuracy.
