Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor assigned equipment in compliance with SOPs and safety requirements.
• Perform basic setups, adjustments and preventive checks to maintain machine performance.
• Conduct in-process quality inspections and document results.
• Handle raw materials, WIP, and finished goods safely and efficiently.
• Record production data accurately (quantities, times, inspection results).
• Collaborate with team members, leads and supervisors to meet production targets.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment per 5S standards.
• Report equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or quality issues promptly.
• Cross-train and provide support in other areas as required.

Job Details: Job Location: 5467 AYON AVENUE - IRWINDALE, CA, Salary Range: $22.00 - $26.00Hourly, STS Metals is a unified organization composed of five businesses working together to deliver high-quality titanium, stainless and alloy steel and nickel products.

The Production Operator - Saws is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining equipment and processes to produce high-quality materials in a safe and efficient manner. This position requires adherence to safety standards, quality requirements, and production schedules. Operators may be assigned to specific equipment or processes depending on business needs. Typical work hours are Monday-Friday 5:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. for First Shift or 3:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m. for Second Shift, with flexibility required for business needs. Frequent overtime may be required. This is a full-time Non-Exempt position.

• Operate and monitor assigned equipment in compliance with standard operating procedures and safety requirements.
• Perform basic setups, adjustments, and preventive checks to maintain machine performance.

• Report equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or quality issues promptly.
• Cross-train and provide support in other areas as required.
• Regular use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toe shoes.
• Ability to work in environments with extreme heat, noise, dust, and chemicals depending on specialized area.

Specialized Areas:

Operates sawing equipment to cut material to specified sizes with accuracy. Ability to use measurement tools; knowledge of saw concepts, practices and procedures; ability to read and understand work orders, tolerances and specifications; ability to set up machines, blades, stops or feeding devices, and flow of coolant against cutting area; ability to properly load material on saws using forklifts or other moving equipment; knowledge of changing blades on saws as needed; cleans saws at the end of shift; adheres to personal and facility safety procedures and practices.
