Job summary

Harbor Steel is seeking a dependable Saw Operator to join our manufacturing team. You will cut material to customer specifications, read work orders, and maintain production flow with safety and quality in mind.

Proficiency with measuring tools and industrial equipment is preferred; lifting up to 50 pounds and operating cranes/forklifts with certification are required. A high school diploma or technical training is acceptable.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or technical training, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to read and understand customer prints, drawings, and work orders.
  • Ability to use common measuring instruments accurately.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and operate cranes/forklifts with certification.

Responsibilities

  • Perform single cuts and production cutting according to customer specifications.
  • Read and follow work orders, customer prints, and drawings.
  • Review work orders to determine nesting/yield opportunities and maximize material utilization.
  • Measure and inspect material to ensure accurate, high-quality cuts.
  • Use tape measures, micrometers, calipers, and angle finders.
  • Safely operate cranes and forklifts for material handling.
  • Perform IPIR as required.
  • Package completed material according to work-order specifications.
  • Complete scheduled preventive maintenance checks on saws and related equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area by following 5S practices and company safety standards.
  • Follow all written procedures, production requirements, and safety policies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by site management.

Job description

We are looking for a dependable, safety-focused Saw Operator to join our team. In this hands-on manufacturing role, you’ll be responsible for accurately cutting material to customer specifications while helping keep production moving safely and efficiently.

What You’ll Do

As a Saw Operator, you will play an important role in our production and warehouse operations. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Perform single cuts and production cutting according to customer specifications.
  • Read and follow work orders, customer prints, and drawings.
  • Review work orders to determine the best nesting/yield opportunities and maximize material utilization.
  • Measure and inspect material to ensure accurate, high-quality cuts.
  • Use tape measures, micrometers, calipers, and angle finders.
  • Safely operate cranes and forklifts for material, part, and bundle handling.
  • Perform IPIR as required.
  • Package completed material according to work-order specifications.
  • Complete scheduled preventive maintenance checks on saws and related equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area by following 5S practices and company safety standards.
  • Follow all written procedures, production requirements, and safety policies.

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications include:
  • Product and/or manufacturing knowledge preferred.
  • Basic ability to read and understand customer prints, drawings, and work orders.
  • Ability to accurately use common measuring instruments.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to operate a crane and forklift, with required certification.
  • Ability to follow written instructions and established procedures.
  • High school diploma, technical training, or equivalent experience.
