Job summary

Morgan Steel, LLC in Memphis, TN 38106 is seeking a skilled Saw Operator to join our steel warehouse team. You will set up, operate, and maintain band saws and other cutting equipment to process steel according to specifications.

The ideal candidate will read blueprints and work orders, measure and mark materials, adjust blade speeds and feeds, inspect finished pieces for quality, and ensure safety and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and cutting specifications.
• Proficiency with measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measures.
• Basic mechanical skills and ability to troubleshoot minor machine issues.
• Knowledge of workplace safety standards and adherence to safety protocols.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Forklift and overhead crane certification or willingness to obtain certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate band saws, cold saws, and other cutting equipment to process steel materials.
• Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and job specifications to determine cutting dimensions.
• Measure and mark materials for cutting, ensuring accuracy and minimizing waste.
• Adjust saw settings, including blade speed, cutting angles, and feed rates, for optimal performance.
• Inspect cut materials for quality and accuracy using precision measuring tools.
• Perform routine maintenance and blade changes on saw equipment.
• Load and unload steel materials using forklifts, overhead cranes, or manual handling as needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, following company safety policies and procedures.
• Identify and report any material defects, equipment malfunctions, or safety concerns to supervisors.
• Work collaboratively with warehouse and production teams to meet deadlines and maintain workflow efficiency.
