Job summary

Lanteris Space is seeking an Engineering Assistant in our San Jose, CA facility to support the blanket design team with strong CAD modeling skills. You will aid the Thermal Hardware Engineering group on innovative projects and advance drafting capabilities, collaborating across teams to ensure proper blanket integration in space hardware.

The role emphasizes 3D modeling, 2D patterns, and CAD library maintenance, with exposure to cutting tools like Gerber and 3D printers.

Qualifications

• Must have a U.S. citizen or permanent resident status.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• 4 years of relevant work experience required.
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, and participate in shift changes to meet program goals.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with thermal engineers to define blanket designs considering thermal needs, manufacturability and installation ease.
• Create 3D models of thermal blankets and shields, including 3D-printed, fiberglass and metal shielding.
• Create 2D flat pattern templates for manufacturing.
• Maintain CAD libraries and drawing templates with proper configuration control.
• Incorporate lessons from blanket fit checks and suggest process improvements.
• Create and update work instructions for manufacturing.
• Operate and maintain Gerber cutting equipment.
• Support lean manufacturing (5S) and CI&I initiatives.
