Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care's Department of Pharmaceutical Care seeks a 50% time Pharmacy Technician, Certified or Trainee, to work in Acute Care, Satellite Pharmacy. Under pharmacist supervision, you will handle dispensing activities, inventory management, and sterile compounding in a controlled setting with AM/PM/Midnight shifts.

The role includes training support and strict medication security responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Registered with Iowa Board of Pharmacy at time of hire.
• National certification through PTCB or NHA with ongoing CE.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of post-high school experience or completion of accredited technician program.

Responsibilities

• Inventory maintenance in satellites and dispensing areas.
• Review and manage medication inventory, including expired meds.
• Deliver medications to patient care areas and retrieve unused meds.
• Manage Epic In-Baskets, prepare labels and documents for dispensing.
• Ensure medication security and proper storage in units and rooms.
• Track and control controlled substances; maintain records.
• Operate Omnicell XT Medstations and related equipment.
• Sterile compounding with proper aseptic technique.
• Assist with training pharmacy students and new technicians.
