Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Pharmaceutical Care is seeking a full-time Pharmacy Technician Certified or Trainee to join our team. Under pharmacist supervision, you will handle dispensing tasks, patient interactions, and collaboration with hospital staff at a central fill location.

Responsibilities include interviewing patients, screening prescriptions, compounding medications, labeling, and assisting with narcotics controls.

Qualifications

• Registered with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy at the time of hire.
• National certification through PTCB or NHA; ongoing CE required.
• Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician training program.
• Experience in healthcare with patient interaction.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient/customer service.
• Screen prescriptions for completeness and formulary status.
• Fill/refill prescriptions and label correctly.
• Accurately compound medications as requested.
• Maintain records and manage narcotics inventory.
