Job summary

Vantor is hiring a Satellite Operations Engineer to work onsite in Longmont, CO, on a rotating five-week shift. This role requires U.S.

citizenship and an active Secret clearance due to the sensitive nature of government and space-system work. You will monitor ground and spacecraft health, verify communications with Mission Control, and generate operational reports while collaborating with the Spacecraft Engineering team.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizen with active Secret security clearance.
• Associate’s degree in engineering, computer science, or related field; two extra years may substitute for a degree.
• Minimum of 2 years in an operational environment.
• Requires 24/7 rotational shift on a five-week cycle.

Responsibilities

• Routinely performs pre-contact verifications with Mission Control Systems Ground Control Engineers to ensure communication between ground system and spacecraft.
• Ensures spacecraft tasking and planning output reduces fault risk for the spacecraft within the Vantor constellation.
• Performs in-contact spacecraft commanding and health assessments to maintain spacecraft health and safety.
• Analyzes out-of-contact spacecraft telemetry for ongoing health and safety of spacecraft out of ground station view.
• Investigates limit violations and escalates to Flight Operations Manager or Spacecraft Engineering when not covered in docs.
• Recognizes anomalous spacecraft conditions and up-channels to Flight Ops Manager or Mission Director.
• Maintains awareness of system changes and ensures operational compliance.
