Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Hardware Test Engineer (STARLINK) to join our Redmond team. You will develop automated electrical test systems spanning diverse domains to ensure satellite hardware survives space environments and maintains global communication.

You will collaborate with electrical, mechanical, software and RF teams, define test coverage, design racks and fixtures, and analyze data from in‑orbit and production testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics or other STEM discipline.
• 1+ years of experience with hardware development or electronics test engineering (internship acceptable).
• Thorough understanding of schematics and electronics manufacturing; testing coverage improvement.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize and develop test systems with cross‑discipline teams for flight hardware validation.
• Define and document test system requirements, coverage, designs, and strategies.
• Design and produce test assets such as racks, panels, fixtures, harnessing, connectors and PCBAs.
• Select off‑the‑shelf hardware or design custom PCBAs to measure signals and apply test loads.
• Improve designs by building tools to analyze data from on‑orbit and production data.
• Use Python to interact with units under test, test equipment, and production docs.
• Support hardware through production, satellite integration, and flight.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards (UL, NFPA, ANSI, IEC).
