CesiumAstro is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II in Melbourne, FL to lead mechanical designs for satellites and aerospace systems. You will manage from concept to qualification, with emphasis on electronics packaging, CAD modeling, simulations, and environmental qualification.

Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration are essential. The role requires proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, AutoCAD), FEA/thermal analysis, and DFM/DFMA knowledge, with 2–5 years (BS) or 0–3

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering with 2–5 years of design/analysis experience or MS with 0–3 years of experience.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles.
• Analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with CAD tools: SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, or AutoCAD.
• DFM/DFMA implications of material and process selection.
• Knowledge of GD&T, drafting standards, and engineering documentation practices.
• Experience with ANSYS, MATLAB, or similar tools.
• Experience with CNC manufacturing.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical designs from concept through qualification.
• Perform electronics packaging design and thermal management.
• Use CAD/FEA tools for simulations and analyses.
• Ensure manufacturability through DFM/DFMA considerations.
• Present design reviews to customers and leadership.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers and cross-functional teams.
