Job summary

AeroVironment is seeking a mid-career Program Manager to support satellite electronics programs within Space Technologies Business Unit. This is a full-time onsite position in Albuquerque, NM, offering a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities to lead cross-functional teams in a high‑stakes aerospace environment.

The role requires 5+ years in aerospace or a technical field, strong project management skills, and the ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and 5+ years of relevant experience in aerospace or a technical field as a project or program manager.
• Thorough knowledge and proficiency in all project management areas per industry standards.
• Ability to lead and direct activities and resources within and across the organization.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with ability to listen, assimilate, evaluate, and summarize for customers at all levels.
• Knowledge of the Project Lifecycle from requirements, proposal, negotiation, to implementation.
• Strong initiative defining and communicating schedule metrics to support informed decisions.
• Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Leads development of top-level program plans, coordinating with group leads for execution plans.
• Participates in proposal development and manages pre-award performance to budget.
• Establishes, monitors and integrates change management processes and decisions.
• Facilitates negotiations on major program parameters (cost, schedule, quality).
• Develops project plans using MS Project and defines deliverables meeting requirements and customer expectations.
• Identifies and manages project risks, issues and opportunities.
• Manages resources including people, facilities, budgets, and schedules to meet performance requirements and commitments.
• Reports on project status and performance metrics to program leadership and customer.
• Ensures team members’ responsibilities, accountability and authority are clearly documented.
• Ensures assigned tasks are executed with appropriate tracking per plan.
• Adheres to PM standards (PMI, PMBOK, ANSI, ISO) for project management activities.
• Implements customer and program communication plans and resolves program issues.
• Refines specifications and leads programs from development into final product.
