Job summary

Peoples Gas System is seeking a Pipeline Locator in Sarasota, FL. You will locate and mark underground facilities, respond to excavation notices, and support damage prevention with GIS tools and electronic locate equipment.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, and 1+ year locating experience or ASME B31Q qualifications. Overtime and on-call duties may apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1+ year underground utility locating experience; ASME B31Q may substitute.
• Ability to read GIS maps and learn related job skills.
• Proficiency with computer tools and electronic locate equipment.

Responsibilities

• Receive and respond to excavation notices per state one-call rules.
• Accurately locate and mark underground assets on public and private property.
• Operate electronic locating equipment within accuracy standards.
• Perform light excavation with hand tools when needed.
• Update GIS records and assist in facility investigations after damages.
• Build relationships with excavation contractors to reduce damages.
• Be available for emergency locate response on a rotating basis.
