Job summary

Peoples Gas System in Florida is seeking a Pipeline Locator in the North Miami area. You will locate and mark underground gas facilities, operate locating equipment, and assist with damage prevention and investigations to protect public safety.

A high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, and GPS/map skills are required. Preference given to those with 1 year of locating experience and knowledge of one-call rules; proficiency with GIS and ticketing systems is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
• Knowledge of GIS map reading and locating underground assets.
• Experience with electronic locate equipment and ticket systems.

Responsibilities

• Receive and respond to excavation notices, adhering to policies and one-call rules.
• Locate and mark underground assets using spray paints, flags and equipment.
• Operate detection equipment to locate pipeline facilities within accuracy limits.
• Perform light excavation with hand tools when needed.
• Update maps and assist with damage-investigation documentation.
• Build relationships with excavation contractors to reduce damages.
