Job summary

Peoples Gas System in Florida is seeking a Pipeline Locator in Sarasota to accurately locate and mark underground utilities and support damages prevention programs. You will work with GIS data, inspect sites, and respond to excavation notices while adhering to safety and regulatory standards.

The role requires at least 1 year of locating experience or qualification under ASME B31Q, a valid driver's license, and ability to read maps and operate locating equipment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
• Minimum of 1 year underground utility locating experience or ASME B31Q qualification.
• Ability to learn GIS map reading and locating skills.
• Proficient with computer use and electronic ticket management systems.
• Competent operating electronic locating equipment.
• Knowledge of state one-call requirements and underground construction practices.
• Ability to follow complex instructions, both oral and written.

Responsibilities

• Receive excavation notices and respond per company policies and state requirements.
• Accurately locate and mark underground assets on roadways and properties.
• Operate locating equipment to locate pipeline facilities within accuracy limits.
• Perform light excavation with hand tools as needed.
• Provide map updates and corrections to GIS team.
• Assist with damaged facility investigations and documentation.
