Job summary

Thorben Consulting, LLC is seeking an experienced SAP Higher Education consultant specializing in SLcM to support a mission-critical DoD student management system upgrade. This fully remote opportunity targets a seasoned SAP professional with a proven track record delivering full lifecycle S/4HANA implementations in regulated environments.

Responsibilities include serving as SME across the student lifecycle, translating requirements for SAP solutions, and ensuring compliance with DoD/NIST RMF

Qualifications

• 10+ years of SAP consulting experience with SLcM focus.
• Minimum of 2 full lifecycle implementations (design through go-live).
• Experience with S/4HANA 2023 or later.
• Strong understanding of higher education processes (admissions to graduation).
• US citizenship with ability to obtain Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Serve as subject matter expert for SAP Higher Education (SLcM) functionality across the full student lifecycle — from admissions through graduation and alumni
• Partner with government stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable SAP solutions
• Provide functional expertise on S/4HANA configuration and integration touchpoints related to SLcM, including LMS (Canvas), Leader Leap interfaces
• Develop functional specifications, test scripts, and training/documentation materials
• Collaborate with technical teams on data migration, interfaces, and reporting related to student lifecycle processes
• Ensure solutions align with DoD/DoW compliance, security, and process standards, including IL4/RMF/NIST requirements
• Prepare and present status updates and recommendations to client stakeholders

Thorben Consulting is seeking an experienced SAP Higher Education (Student Lifecycle Management / SLcM) Consultant to support a mission‑critical Student Management System implementation for US Department of War (DoD/DoW) client. The project is a technical upgrade to S/4HANA 2023/2025 SLcM. This is a fully remote opportunity for a seasoned SAP professional with deep Higher Education functional expertise and a proven track record delivering full lifecycle S/4HANA implementations in complex, regulated environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as subject matter expert for SAP Higher Education (SLcM) functionality across the full student lifecycle — from admissions through graduation and alumni
• Partner with government stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable SAP solutions

Qualifications

• Candidate must be a US Citizen
• Secret security clearance or ability to obtain one
• 10+ years of SAP consulting experience, with a strong focus on SAP Higher Education / Student Lifecycle Management (SLcM)
• Minimum of 2 full lifecycle implementations (design through go-live/support)
• Hands‑on project experience with S/4HANA 2023 or later
• Strong understanding of higher education business processes (admissions, enrollment, academic structure, program management)
• Strong understanding of SAP Activate methodology and SAP Solution manager tools
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience working directly with government or public sector clients
• Admissions & AUID Management — prospective/current student interaction, bulk admissions/enrollment import, credit transfer intake, and unique student ID assignment or interfacing with external ID systems
• Enrollment & Registration — rules-based (condition/action/exception) course assignment, bulk roster processing, automated registration, and waitlist/hold management
• Graduation & Program Completion — automated degree audit/academic evaluation against program requirements and transcript update workflows
• Transcript Management — LMS-integrated grade updates (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard), registrar grade maintenance, and official/unofficial transcript generation
• Program & Academic Advising — advising referral workflows, advisor assignment, and documented advising outcomes
• Academic Course Catalog & Curriculum Management — course master data, curriculum revision approval chains, and catalog publication notifications
• Academic Scheduling — quota distribution, resource/facility conflict management, and course offering creation tied to an LMS
• Transfer & Test Credit Evaluation — automated processing of external transcripts and standardized test results (e.g., CLEP, DANTES, National Student Clearinghouse) against accreditation criteria
• Reporting & Analytics — SAP BusinessObjects (or equivalent) scheduled and self‑service/custom reporting on student lifecycle data

Preferred

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Business Administration, or related field
• Prior experience on DoD, DoW, or other state/federal government SAP implementations, ideally in Higher Education
• Secret security clearance or ability to obtain one
• Experience integrating SLcM with other SAP modules (e.g., FI, HCM, or CRM) and with role‑based access control (RBAC) design across multi‑role user populations
• Bachelor's degree in IT, Business Administration, or related field (experience may substitute)
