Job Responsibilities
The SAP Analyst is responsible for providing functional SAP support for Magna Steyr USA's Mesa manufacturing operations. This position serves as a key liaison between plant business functions, local IT, and corporate/global SAP teams to ensure SAP systems effectively support operational requirements.
The SAP Analyst supports SAP functionality across Supply Chain, Warehouse, Production, Quality, Finance, and other plant functions, with primary focus on SAP MM, WM/EWM, and PP. The position is responsible for troubleshooting system and transactional issues, analyzing business requirements, supporting system enhancements, maintaining data integrity, coordinating testing and implementations, and continuously improving SAP-supported business processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily functional SAP support for plant operations, including Supply Chain, Warehouse, Production, Quality, and Finance.
- Serve as the primary plant-level SAP resource for troubleshooting system, process, and transactional issues.
- Provide functional expertise in SAP MM, WM/EWM, and PP processes.
- Analyze SAP incidents and determine whether issues are related to system functionality, master data, configuration, interfaces, or business processes.
- Coordinate complex technical issues with corporate/global SAP teams and other IT support resources.
- Monitor and resolve SAP issues that could impact production, material availability, inventory accuracy, or customer requirements.
- Support SAP integrations with other plant systems and applications.
- Document system issues, resolutions, functional requirements, and process changes
- Partner with business functions to understand operational requirements and translate them into effective SAP solutions.
- Support SAP processes related to purchasing, receiving, inventory management, warehousing, material movement, production planning, material staging, consumption, and shipping.
- Investigate discrepancies between physical plant activity and SAP transactions to identify system or process root causes.
- Support Production and Supply Chain with SAP-related material shortages, inventory discrepancies, production orders, and planning issues.
- Analyze recurring transactional errors and implement sustainable system or process improvements.
- Support Engineering Changes, new material introductions, production changes, and program launches from an SAP systems perspective.
- Ensure SAP processes accurately support physical material and production flows.
- Gather and document business requirements for SAP enhancements and process improvements.
- Evaluate requested system changes and coordinate development or configuration activities with appropriate SAP support teams.
- Support SAP configuration changes within assigned functional areas as authorized.
- Develop functional specifications and requirements for system enhancements.
- Coordinate and execute user acceptance testing (UAT) for SAP changes, enhancements, upgrades, and integrations.
- Validate system changes prior to production implementation.
- Support SAP upgrades, system migrations, and S/4HANA initiatives.
- Assist with implementation of new SAP functionality and digital manufacturing solutions.
- Maintain appropriate change documentation and ensure affected users are informed and trained
- Support governance and accuracy of SAP master data used by plant operations.
- Assist with material masters, storage locations, planning parameters, warehouse data, and other applicable master data.
- Analyze data-quality issues and coordinate corrective actions with responsible business functions.
- Support inventory reconciliation and investigation of SAP versus physical inventory discrepancies.
- Develop system controls and reports to identify incorrect, incomplete, or inconsistent data.
- Partner with business owners to improve transaction discipline and data integrity.
- Follow established IT change-management, cybersecurity, access-control, and system-governance requirements.
- Support SAP user access and role requirements in coordination with authorized IT and corporate teams.
- Assist with SAP audits and system-control reviews as required.
- Support investigation and resolution of system interface failures and data-transfer issues.
- Maintain appropriate documentation for system configurations, processes, testing, and changes.
- Protect confidential business, employee, customer, and system information in accordance with company requirements.
