Job summary

Idahoan Foods is seeking a Sanitation Technician to clean and sanitize floors and facility equipment on a scheduled basis. You will maintain cleanliness on production and packaging areas, follow MSS instructions, and assist with production when needed.

Training pay starts at $20.75 per hour and increases to $21.50 after successful validation, with further potential increase per the validation program. Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs and work varied shifts.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working around manufacturing equipment preferred.
  • Able to read and comprehend work related material such as Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS).
  • Exhibits effective oral communication skills when communicating with supervisor and co-workers.
  • Reads, comprehends, and performs the cleaning instructions for each piece of equipment as required.
  • Shows ability to perform heavy lifting up to 60 lbs.
  • Follows all safety precautions and uses PPE as required.

Job description

  • This role begins at a training rate of $20.75 per hour. After sucessful validation, the pay rate is increased to $21.50

The primary responsibility of the Sanitation Technician position is to clean and sanitize floors and facility equipment. Clean the facility structure from roof to floor on a scheduled basis.

Main Responsibilities
  • Maintains an acceptable level of cleanliness on all production and packaging equipment and work areas.
  • Eliminates any garbage, debris and waste on the floor or on the manufacturing equipment.
  • Able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities with efficiency and accuracy while working independently and professionally.
  • May be called upon to help with a production position under special circumstances.
  • Must be able to read and follow chemical labels and review SDS’s to obtain appropriate hazard information and safety statements. Must be able to follow mixing instructions for chemicals used in cleaning and sanitizing of equipment.
  • Able to scrub equipment if needed to clean with scrub pads, brushes etc. Must assist in disassembly of equipment for cleaning and assist with reassembly when finished.
  • Able to be trained in the Lockout and Tagout program to be an Authorized person.
  • Must work any shift for cleanup and startup, may include holidays, and weekends.
  • Must be able to use good judgment in the absence of the Lead or Supervisor.
  • Must be able to learn and understand Master Sanitation Schedules.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Required Skills
Education and/or Experience:

Language Skills:

Exhibits effective oral communication skills when communicating with supervisor and co-workers. Works well with others and communicates in a positive manner. Reads, comprehends, and performs the cleaning instructions for each piece of equipment as required.

Work Environment:

Shows an ability to perform heavy lifting up to 60 lbs. Able to stand on concrete floors for extended periods and follows safety precautions. Utilizes cleaning chemicals and sanitizers safely. Physically able to climb stairs repetitively and carry loads upstairs when required. Must be able to work different shifts.

Reasoning Ability:

Possesses self-confidence and maturity to make decisions and to solve problems with minimal direction.

Interpersonal Skills:

Team player, flexible and accepts changing assignments and accountabilities.

Safety:

Follows all safety precautions while working independently and professionally. Keeps work area clean. Must be able to wear proper PPE while performing job duties. Could be required to use any of the following PPE including wet suit, rubber boots & gloves, safety goggles, and dust mask.

Position Validation
  • Our Position Validation Program focuses on three core areas: On the Job Training, Standard Operating Procedures and Validation of Performance. Through this training, you will have the tools you need to demonstrate an understanding of the key duties of the role through validation.
  • Validating in your role simply means demonstrating your proficiency in your assigned job.
  • New team members in the Sanitation Tech I position must validate on the items listed in the validation program. Once validated, the rate of pay changes from training rate to full pay rate (+ $.75).
  • Team members who are unable to validate from the training level to this level must attempt again and pass within one week. Team members who are unable to validate within the first 10 weeks of employment can move to an open position that they qualify for (at the pay rate of that position). If no position exists, the team member will be exited from Idahoan.
