Job summary

Daybreak Foods is seeking a Sanitation Technician to clean and sanitize egg processing equipment on a daily basis after each shift. The position follows a rotating schedule of three days one week and four days the next. The Sanitation Technician reports to the Processing Supervisor.

The role requires disassembly/reassembly of equipment, use of chemicals and high-pressure cleaning gear, and adherence to GMP guidelines. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience in food plant sanitation is desirable.
• Training for egg-specific equipment would be provided.
• GMP knowledge or equivalent practices is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, clean, sanitize, and reassemble processing equipment daily.
• Work with chemicals and high-pressure cleaning equipment; use of hoses and tools.
• Maintain training on equipment, chemicals, and MSDSs.
• Review sanitation chemicals with supervisor for proper use.
• Record keeping and paperwork.
• Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
• Maintain equipment and keep in good repair.
• Other duties as assigned.

Summary

The Sanitation Technician is responsible of cleaning and sanitizing the egg processing equipment on a daily basis following the processing shift. The schedule will be working for three days one week and four days the following week-continuing with this rotation. The Sanitation Technician will report to the Processing Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for dissembling, cleaning, sanitizing and reassembling the processing equipment on a daily basis
• Requires working with chemicals, high pressure cleaning equipment, manual scrubbing, use of a hose and simple mechanical tools
• Maintain training on the correct use of equipment, chemicals and their MSDS's
• Review the sanitation chemicals with the supervisor including use, mixing, appropriateness, etc.
• Responsible for record keeping/paperwork
• Must follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's)
• Maintain equipment and keep in good repair
• Other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience

• Previous food plant sanitation experience is highly desirable
• Training for egg specific equipment would be provided
• Familiarity with GMP's or equivalent practices is highly desirable

• Ability to work independently
• Ability and willingness to learn several associated jobs
• Speak English and Spanish is highly desirable
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Basic math skills
• Knowledge of sanitation methods, chemical handling and use
• Knowledge of process control systems and food safety principles

Physical Demands

Stand and walk constantly; grip, grasp, push, pull, reach, bend, stoop, lift up to 10 pounds frequently; sit, climb, lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Work Environment

Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and water, and chemicals. Temperature is regulated for operations standards. Cooler temperatures occur in specific areas. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Proper personal protective equipment will be required during certain working conditions. Employees are required to comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) due to working in a food manufacturing environment (hairnets, clean clothes, etc.).
