Job summary

Daybreak Foods is seeking a Sanitation Technician to clean and sanitize egg processing equipment after each shift. The role follows a 3-on/4-off weekly rotation and reports to the Processing Supervisor.

Responsibilities include disassembling and reassembling equipment, handling sanitation chemicals, maintaining records, and adhering to GMPs. Prior food plant sanitation experience is valued and training for egg-specific equipment is provided. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Experience in sanitation of food processing facilities is desirable.
  • Training for egg-specific equipment will be provided.
  • Familiarity with GMPs or equivalent practices is desirable.

Description
Summary

The Sanitation Technician is responsible of cleaning and sanitizing the egg processing equipment on a daily basis following the processing shift. The schedule will be working for three days one week and four days the following week-continuing with this rotation. The Sanitation Technician will report to the Processing Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for disassembling, cleaning, sanitizing and reassembling the processing equipment on a daily basis
  • Requires working with chemicals, high pressure cleaning equipment, manual scrubbing, use of a hose and simple mechanical tools
  • Maintain training on the correct use of equipment, chemicals and their MSDS's
  • Review the sanitation chemicals with the supervisor including use, mixing, appropriateness, etc.
  • Responsible for record keeping/paperwork
  • Must follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's)
  • Maintain equipment and keep in good repair
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience
  • Previous food plant sanitation experience is highly desirable
  • Training for egg specific equipment would be provided
  • Familiarity with GMP's or equivalent practices is highly desirable
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability and willingness to learn several associated jobs
  • Speak English and Spanish is highly desirable
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic math skills
  • Knowledge of sanitation methods, chemical handling and use
  • Knowledge of process control systems and food safety principles
Physical Demands

Stand and walk constantly; grip, grasp, push, pull, reach, bend, stoop, lift up to 10 pounds frequently; sit, climb, lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Work Environment

Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and water, and chemicals. Temperature is regulated for operations standards. Cooler temperatures occur in specific areas. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Proper personal protective equipment will be required during certain working conditions. Employees are required to comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) due to working in a food manufacturing environment (hairnets, clean clothes, etc.).
