Job summary

Handsome Brook Farms is seeking a Sanitation Technician to ensure clean and sanitary production areas, from ducts to drains, following SSOPs and CIP processes. You will support daily sanitation of equipment and lines and work closely with the Sanitation Manager and QA to maintain compliance.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in sanitation technician role in a manufacturing environment.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience.
  • 3+ years in manufacturing or food industry.
  • Experience using industrial grade chemicals and CIP processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain plant cleanliness and sanitation across production areas.
  • Operate floor scrubber and support spill cleanup.
  • Execute sanitation tasks per Master Sanitation Cleaning Schedule and CIPs.
  • Assist in monthly Food Safety/Housekeeping Audits and address corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with QA and Sanitation Manager on sanitation needs and material integrity.

Job Summary

The Sanitation Technician is responsible for ensuring that the sanitation technicians are effectively following procedures to maintain that the equipment and production areas are sanitary and clean. You will be required to clean from ducts to drains to ensure that we maintain appropriate levels of cleanliness throughout the facility. Cleaning of equipment and production areas with appropriate chemicals in accordance with the SSOPs. Assist in performing CIP (clean in place) of all production equipment, product lines, tanks, etc. daily. This role reports to the Sanitation Manager and works with the Quality Manager to ensure proper sanitation is adhered too.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure plant cleanliness, which includes removing bins of trash from the production areas, emptying drums and recycling containers into appropriate containers.
  • Operates floor scrubber throughout the production areas.
  • Assist in clean-up of any spills or unsanitary conditions in the facility.
  • Perform sanitation process covered by the Master Sanitation Cleaning Schedule and by Sanitation Manager.
  • Completes tasks from the monthly Food Safety/Housekeeping Audit.
  • Complete corrective actions as assigned from internal/external audits and inspections.
  • Work with production to perform cleaning procedure that includes CIPs of filter/pasteurizers and production lines.
  • ATP swap testing of lines after cleaning.
  • Ability to do wet cleanings of production lines with proper PPE to ensure safety.
  • Maintain compliance with GMP's and hygiene standards.
  • Responsible for facility cleaning and sanitation processes.
  • Assist in performing monthly food safety and housekeeping audits.
  • Monitor chemical inventories - report to QA and Sanitation Manager when items are running low.
  • Responsibility for ensuring that chemicals are properly labeled and stored and that the chemical cage is always kept clean and orderly.
  • Sanitation Lead will have supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Sanitation Manager and will work closely with manager to ensure effective practices are being followed.
  • Effectively communicate sanitation needs, concerns, or suggestions such as foreign material, food safety, and material integrity issues with QA or Sanitation Manager
  • Ability to stand for the entire shift, lift, twist, bend, reach, stoop, push and carry up to 20lbs.
  • Ability to work in multiple areas of the plant, as assigned.
  • Adherence to governing bodies requirements, FDA, USDA, OSHA, HACCP.
Qualifications
  • Preferred 3 years of Sanitation Technician experience, in a manufacturing environment.
  • Preferred 3 years of Supervisory experience.
  • Preferred 3 years of Manufacturing, Food Industry.
  • Preferred 3 years of experience using industrial grade chemicals, CIP's and basic housekeeping.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
