Job summary

The City of Alexandria, Louisiana is seeking a dedicated Sanitation Worker to collect garbage and yard waste along an assigned route on a back-of- truck crew. You will retrieve bags from residential and commercial sites and empty them into the truck's compactor, ensuring complete disposal of acceptable waste.

You will follow safety protocols, operate packers and related tools, and maintain a clean, sanitary vehicle.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous relevant work experience preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Collects garbage and yard trash on assigned route and empties into the compactor of a sanitation truck.
• Operates packer or lift mechanisms; uses shovels, pitchforks, yard rakes, and brooms as needed.
• Cleans garbage truck daily to maintain a sanitary vehicle and environment.
• Receives and responds to customer questions and complaints; reports to supervisor.
• Prepares time cards or other documents.
• Follows safety procedures and monitors work environment for safety of employees and others.
