Job summary

City of Valdosta seeks a team member to collect refuse, yard waste and related materials along a set route. You will assist in operating the refuse or recycling truck and help clean and maintain vehicles and equipment.

Additionally, you will perform pre- and post-trip safety inspections and carry out related duties as assigned. This entry‑level role requires knowledge of city streets and safe work practices.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of city streets and safe work practices.
• Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Capacity to lift, pull, and push heavy objects.
• No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

• Collect refuse, yard waste and other materials along a predetermined route.
• Assist in operating the refuse or recycling truck as assigned.
• Assist in cleaning and maintaining assigned vehicles and equipment.
• Assist in performing pre- and post-trip equipment safety inspections.
