Job summary

Pilgrim’s is seeking a sanitation hourly team member to uphold high cleanliness, safety, and food quality across our poultry processing plants in the United States. You’ll clean equipment, facilities, and production areas, following USDA and company sanitation standards, using approved cleaners and PPE.

Schedule typically Monday–Friday with overtime as needed. Base pay starts at $17.75 per hour plus a $1 shift differential for 2nd and 3rd shifts, with benefits after 60 days and opportunities for

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Poultry/food industry/manufacturing experience is a plus.
• Ability to multitask and work quickly in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and teamwork with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize production equipment and work areas per standards.
• Prepare, mix, and apply cleaning chemicals following PPE rules.
• Inspect equipment after sanitation and report hazards promptly.
• Maintain an organized, safe work environment and proper storage of tools and chemicals.
• Collaborate with team to complete sanitation tasks efficiently.
• Follow SOPs and all safety, food safety, and biosecurity guidelines.
• Perform additional sanitation duties as needed to support production readiness.
• Other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize production equipment, tools, and work areas according to USDA, food safety, and company sanitation standards.
• Prepare, mix, and safely apply cleaning chemicals while following all PPE and safety requirements.
• Inspect equipment and areas after sanitation to ensure proper cleanliness and report any issues or hazards promptly.
• Maintain an organized, safe work environment by removing debris, rinsing surfaces, and ensuring proper storage of tools and chemicals.
• Work collaboratively with team members to complete sanitation tasks efficiently and support a positive, safety‑focused environment.
• Follow detailed sanitation procedures, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and all safety, food safety, and biosecurity guidelines.
• Perform additional sanitation duties as needed to support production readiness and meet operational goals.
• Other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need

• Education: High School Diploma/GED preferred.
• Experience: Poultry, food industry, or manufacturing experience is a plus.
• Skills: Ability to multitask and work quickly in a fast‑paced environment, have good communication skills, ability to comprehend instructions and apply common sense, have strong attention to detail, and must be a team player.
• Physical requirements: Ability to work in a refrigerated environment with temperatures ranging from 10°F to 40°F, standing for extended periods of time, and able to lift 40 lbs.
