Job summary

City of Clermont is seeking a Sanitation Supervisor in Florida to oversee sanitation drivers and trucks in assigned areas. The role includes scheduling, assigning, safety training, reporting, and occasional driving when needed.

The position is non-exempt with FLSA overtime, requires a Class B CDL with air brake endorsement, at least five years of sanitation vehicle experience, and a high school diploma or GED. FEMA IS100/IS700/IS200 within 6 months are required.

Qualifications

• Five years of experience operating sanitation vehicles including Side Loaders, Rear Loaders, Recycle and Clam trucks.
• Reading and interpreting policies and procedures to maintain compliance.
• Ability to supervise drivers and coordinate tasks with other foremen.

Responsibilities

• Supervises sanitation drivers and technicians; schedules, assigns, and covers duties as needed.
• May fill in for the Sanitation Chief or Manager to oversee the division.
• Maintains records, compiles data, and prepares reports and documentation.
• Checks progress of work and resolves problems or complaints.
• May drive and operate refuse containers and perform pre-trip inspections.
• Instructs employees in safe and efficient procedures.
• Ensures drivers perform pre-trip inspections and safety checks.
• Helps establish or revise department rules and regulations.
• Holds regular safety training sessions for personnel.
• Coordinates solid waste/recycling for special events.
• Implements and enforces City policies and procedures.
• Maintains communications; may be on emergency call, rotating shifts, or extended hours.
• Performs office tasks such as evaluations and data entry as needed.
• Coordinates work with other Foremen and Operation Chief as required.
• Performs customer service tasks such as delivering or repairing carts.
• Other duties as assigned.
