Job summary

Manzana Products Co. is relocating its facility to Sunnyside, WA. The Sanitation Specialist will maintain a safe, sanitary food-processing environment and help prevent contamination.

You will start on the 1st shift with a transition to 2nd shift and possible shift differential, requiring adherence to Food Safety Program and related SOPs.

Qualifications

• Previous sanitation, food-processing, or agricultural-processing experience preferred.
• Ability to safe handling of cleaning chemicals after proper training.
• Ability to read and follow sanitation procedures and chemical labels.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Sanitation Specialist is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing production areas, equipment, floors, and other facility surfaces to maintain a safe and sanitary food-processing environment. The position plays an important role in preventing contamination and supporting compliance with food-safety requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Manzana Food Products charges all employees with the responsibility to fully participate in all company policy and program initiatives for Food Legality, Food Safety, Food Quality and Food Defense; each employee, no matter their position or job function serves a key role in contributing to safe, quality food.
• Learn and understand the daily cleaning procedure forms; properly fill out and sign off on these forms on a daily basis.
• Learn the time frames given for each job and utilize the time efficiently to assure that the job is done correctly and on time.
• Use personal protective equipment as required for each cleaning task performed.
• Return all cleaning tools, equipment, chemicals, etc. to the sanitation room after job duties have been completed.
• Understandscorrect labeling of chemicals and containers. Understand the use of, and safely use, cleaning chemicals. Aspects which include safety, measurements and applications of the chemical.
• Be able to follow SSOP’s.
• Clean and sanitize processing equipment, conveyors, floors, walls, drains, and production areas.
• Follow established sanitation procedures, schedules, and chemical-use instructions.
• Disassemble and reassemble equipment for sanitation as trained.
• Properly use cleaning tools, equipment, chemicals, and PPE.
• Inspect cleaned areas and equipment to ensure sanitation standards are met.
• Identify and report sanitation, equipment, or food-safety concerns.
• Maintain accurate sanitation records and checklists.
• Follow OSHA, food-safety, GMP, HACCP, and company sanitation requirements as applicable..
• Maintain a clean and organized sanitation area.
• Work closely with production and quality personnel.
• Perform additional sanitation duties as directed by the Sanitation Process Supervisor.

Sanitation role will start off on 1st shift but will transition to 2nd shift and eligible for an extra shift differential.

Qualifications

• Previous sanitation, food-processing, or agricultural-processing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of food-processing sanitation practices is a plus.
• Ability to safely handle approved cleaning chemicals after proper training.
• Ability to read and follow sanitation procedures and chemical labels.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods.
• Dependable attendance and ability to work assigned shifts.

Working Conditions

The position may involve wet floors, water spray, cold temperatures, noise, cleaning chemicals, and food-processing equipment. The employee must have the ability to lift objects up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.Proper PPE and safety procedures are required at all times.
