Peerless-Industries in Aurora, IL is seeking a grinder to grind and sand welded parts to company standards. You will select abrasive belts and tools, operate grinders and related equipment, and inspect parts to remove dents, scratches and rust.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and 1 year of related experience. Must lift up to 30 pounds, stand long shifts, and follow OSHA safety rules; overtime may be required as needed.

Mansioni

• Select grade of abrasive belt, wheel, sand rolls or disk according to specifications and attach to grinding/polishing tools.
• Operate grinders and sanding equipment (large/small angle grinders, belt sanders, die/orbital sanders, drum sanders, hand files).
• Visually and physically inspect parts for dents, scratches and rust to remove.
• Use tools to remove scratches, tool marks, excess weld material, sharp edges and burrs.
• Perform general clean-up of equipment and surrounding areas.
• May perform basic material handling with pallet jack or forklift to move/stage materials.
• Adhere to Peerless and OSHA safety rules and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

• High school diploma or general educational development (GED)

Experience:

• 1-year related experience and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Skills:

• To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or abilities required

ESSENTIAL RESULTS:

• Select grade of abrasive belt, wheel, sand rolls or disk, according to specifications, knowledge of abrasives, and condition of metal, and attaches to various grinding and polishing tools.
• Must be able to operate, but not limited to, the following tools: large angle grinders, small angle grinders, belt sanders, die grinders, orbital sanders, drum sanders and hand files.
• Visually and physically, inspect parts for any dents, scratches and rust that needs to be removed.
• Using tools on surface of work piece to remove scratches, tool marks, excess weld material, sharp edges and burrs
• Perform general clean-up duties of the equipment and surrounding areas.
• May perform basic material handling duties with the use of manual pallet jack and/or forklift to move material and stage materials.
• Adhere to all Peerless and OSHA safety related work rules and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned or required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Must be able to work overtime, including weekends as needed.
• Must be physically capable of standing/bending/stooping/squeezing 8+ hour shift(s)
• Must be able to lift, carry and/or move up to 30 pounds on a given day, without assistance. Anything above 30 lbs. will be a team lift.
• Must have the ability to push, pull material and equipment as needed.
• Must be able to wear required safety equipment including gloves, glasses and respirators.
