  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.

Responsibilities

  • Operate pneumatic and electric angle grinders and other finishing tools to remove weld spatter, burrs, and excess material.
  • Grind and blend welds to meet quality and cosmetic standards.
  • Inspect welded parts for defects and notify supervisor of quality concerns.
  • Safely move materials using forklifts, pallet jacks, or overhead cranes.
  • Perform routine inspections of grinding equipment and notify maintenance of issues.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area while meeting daily production goals.
  • Follow all safety policies and wear PPE.
  • Assist welders and other production personnel as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job description

Position Summary

The Corner Grinder is responsible for grinding, smoothing, and finishing welded metal components to meet company quality standards and customer specifications. This position ensures welds and fabricated parts are properly prepared for subsequent manufacturing processes, including painting or assembly. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and capable of working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate pneumatic and electric angle grinders, and other finishing tools to remove weld spatter, sharp edges, burrs, and excess material.
  • Grind and blend welds to meet quality and cosmetic standards.
  • Inspect welded parts for defects and notify the supervisor of quality concerns.
  • Safely move materials using forklifts, pallet jacks, or overhead cranes.
  • Perform routine inspections of grinding equipment and notify maintenance of any issues.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area while.
  • Meet daily production goals while maintaining quality workmanship.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toe boots.
  • Assist welders and other production personnel as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for the entire shift.
  • Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting, and repetitive hand movements.
  • Ability to perform repetitive grinding motions throughout the workday.
  • Ability to work in environments with dust, sparks, heat, vibration, and loud noise.
  • Must be able to wear all required PPE for extended periods.
Work Environment

This position is performed in a manufacturing welding environment where exposure to welding operations, metal dust, sparks, noise, and moving machinery is common. Employees are expected to work safely while maintaining production and quality standards.
