Job summary

Polymarket is seeking a sanctions compliance leader to build and run our U.S. sanctions program. You will own policies, screening controls, escalation standards, and governance, while leading a dedicated screening team and partnering with Legal, Compliance, Product, and Engineering.

You will translate OFAC and U.S. sanctions requirements into practical controls, manage alerts, and drive operational improvements with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of sanctions, financial crimes, AML, or related compliance experience.
• Deep subject matter expertise in OFAC regulations, sanctions programs, and guidance.
• Experience building or leading both a sanctions program and screening operations within a regulated environment.
• Combination of advisory and operational leadership to interpret requirements and build teams and processes.
• Experience leveraging AI, automation, and new technologies to improve sanctions processes with proper governance.

Responsibilities

• Own and continuously enhance Polymarket US's sanctions framework, including policies, procedures, governance, risk assessments, screening controls, escalation standards, and supporting docs.
• Serve as the primary sanctions subject matter expert, translating OFAC requirements into practical controls and operational requirements.
• Own end-to-end sanctions screening across customers, transactions, counterparties, and related parties, including list management and QA.
• Build and lead the sanctions team, setting staffing, workflows, procedures, escalation criteria, service levels, and quality standards.
• Manage investigation and disposition of screening alerts, ensuring consistent, well-documented decisions.
• Develop escalation and decision frameworks for blocked or prohibited activity, coordinating with Legal and leadership on regulatory reporting.
• Advise Legal, Compliance, Product, and business teams on sanctions risks for customers, transactions, products, and jurisdictions.
