Job summary

Anthropic, a safety-focused AI lab, seeks a Sanctions Lead within Integrity & Compliance to direct our sanctions program end-to-end and collaborate with legal, finance, and product teams. You will shape policy, oversee screening and enforcement controls, and partner with counsel to navigate regulatory expectations.

This role requires strong leadership, deep knowledge of OFAC/EAR rules, and a track record of delivering risk-managed programs in a fast-paced tech environment.

Qualifications

• Substantive hands-on leadership of an economic sanctions program (OFAC, EU, UK, others) including design and governance
• Experience managing voluntary self-disclosures, blocking/reject reports, regulator filings end to end
• Experience assessing sanctions risk and delivering program enhancements
• Experience governing restricted-party screening programs and vendor management
• Track record reporting on program health and risk to senior leadership or board
• Knowledge of US export controls (EAR/BIS) to oversee export controls programs
• Experience translating trade controls requirements into practical guidance for product/engineering/ops/commercial teams
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills including drafting policy for senior leadership

Responsibilities

• Lead sanctions compliance program strategy, risk appetite, policy frameworks, and roadmap
• Represent sanctions/export controls in leadership forums and with cross-functional partners
• Continuously assess sanctions risk across products, channels, markets; drive remediation
• Direct regulator-facing matters and responses in partnership with counsel and Legal
• Govern screening/enforcement controls, including lists, thresholds, and escalation
• Serve as escalation point for complex sanctions matters; set disposition standards
• Advise business and product teams on sanctions implications of expansion and new channels
• Support export controls program priorities with Compliance Officer and Counsel
• Prepare program reporting on health, risk and emerging issues for leadership and governance
• Monitor regulatory developments and drive program changes
• Lead and develop compliance team members; grow function as needed
• Accept evolving duties as required by Anthropic's discretion
