Job summary

Westlake Chemical is seeking a materials handler to stock sample materials, assist with shipping, and use a table saw, drill, and other tools to cut shingles and prepare orders. The role requires attention to inventory and accuracy in processing customer requests.

The position emphasizes reading schedules, maintaining organized work areas, and recording materials movement. Physical endurance and basic math are helpful in daily tasks and shipping duties.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.

Responsibilities

• Ensures samples department sends out quality products every day.
• Keeps area stocked, cleaned, and organized; helps with shipping and ensures correct products are shipped.
• Reads production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to identify items to move or distribute.
• Conveys materials from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas.
• Sorts materials by size, type, style, color, or product code and places on racks or bins.
• Assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves, or directs to packing or shipping.
• Marks materials with identifying information; opens containers; records amounts received or distributed.
• Uses computer to enter records; prepares parcels for mailing; maintains inventory records.
• Quality control of samples being sent out.
