Job summary

Westlake Royal Building Products is looking for a warehouse associate to stock sample materials, keep the area clean, and assist with shipping sample orders. The role also uses a table saw to cut shingles and handles drills, staplers, and routers as part of daily duties.

Job description

This position is primarily responsible for ensuring that sample materials are stocked and the area is clean and organized. This position also helps with shipping sample orders and uses the table saw to cut shingles, staplers, and drills by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Ensures that the samples department is sending out quality products each and every day.
  • Keeps area stocked, cleaned, and organized.
  • Helps with shipping product and ensures products that are shipped are correct.
  • Reads production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
  • Conveys materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas.
  • Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
  • Assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves, or conveys orders to packing station or shipping department.
  • Marks materials with identifying information.
  • Opens bales, crates, and other containers.
  • Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed.
  • Uses computer to enter records.
  • Prepares parcels for mailing.
  • Maintains inventory records.

Quality control of samples being sent out.

Education And/Or Experience

Less than high school education; or up to one-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
