Job summary

Axis Pipe and Tube is seeking a Sample Saw Operator in Bryan, Texas for a full-time manual labor role. You will acquire required samples per customer specs, ensure labeling for traceability, and notify status and reasons in the system.

The job involves cutting and handling pipe to meet quality requirements. Responsibilities include operating equipment, performing inspections, maintaining safety, and completing related paperwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1–3 months related experience and/or training.
• Must be able to read and understand the Work Instructions for the position held.
• Must follow Safety Rules and Regulations.

Responsibilities

• Remove sample of pipe from the mill during operation for the laboratory.
• Inspect finished pipe and tubing products and monitor during production.
• Set press to meet Flattening test requirements for the product.
• Enter and retrieve information and data on a computer.
• Fill in all paperwork completely and accurately.

Sample Saw Operator

Full Time Manual Labor Bryan, TX, US

Salary Range: $18.00 To $21.00 Hourly

Brief Overview:

The objective of this position is to acquire the appropriate samples per customer requirements and ensure the proper labeling and marking to guarantee their traceability. Additionally, this position will cut back any defects that might bepresent in the pipe, properly mark them, label them, and notify the pipe's status and reasons in our system

Responsibilities:

• Complete flattening tests as required to meet all specification requirements for all products
• Remove sample of pipe from the mill (while the mill is in operation) for the laboratory.
• Perform inspections of finished pipe and tubing products including monitoring products during production process.
• Be able to set the press to meet the Flattening test requirements of the product being produced.
• Be able to use a computer to enter and retrieve information and data
• Be able to fill in all paperwork completely and accurately.
• Notify the Supervisor and Laboratory Technician of any Flattening Test FAILURES.
• Work within a team environment and assist other employees as required
• Work with Assistant Mill Operator on a team basis.
• Ability, general knowledge, and training/certification records to safely operate acetylene torch, plasma arc torch, hand grinder, forklift, overhead cranes, and other related shop equipment.
• Housekeeping in work and surrounding areas.
• Responsible for completing any assignments given by Supervisor, even those assignments not specifically listed in this job description.
• Performs repairs to machinery and equipment and keeps machinery lubricated.
• Reports maintenance problems to the Mill Supervisor and Maintenance.
• Obey legal instructions from supervisor or manager who is in control of the mill.
• Be able and willing to undertake training in a variety of positions including but not limited to using an Overhead Crane and Forklift
• Any other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; use hands to fingers, hands to feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear.
• The employee frequently is required to climb, balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit.
• The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
