Job summary

ALS in Reno, Nevada, is seeking a Sample Preparation Technician (P2) to work in the Sample Preparation Department. You will prepare client samples for analysis and support lab operations in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires attention to safety, the ability to work independently or with a team, and basic English communication. On-site duties include handling, crushing, sieving, and maintaining production logs.

• Loading and unloading drying ovens under supervision
• Maintain own production logs
• General cleaning duties for basic lab cleanliness
• May assist with layout duties/tasks
• Handling compositing, screen metallics, special handling requests, etc.
• Inspecting equipment and informing senior staff if adjustment is required
• Analytical quality tasks
• Observe safety regulations and ALS health and safety policies
• Other duties as assigned

About the role

Within the Sample Preparation Department, the Sample Preparation Technician (P2) will work with client samples and prepare them for analysis in our labs.

Responsibilities

• Ringing, sieving (including International Soils), crushing, splitting under direct supervision
• Loading and unloading drying ovens under supervision
• Maintain own production logs;
• General cleaning duties for basic lab cleanliness;
• May assists with layout duties/tasks
• Handling compositing, screen metallics, special handling requests, etc.;
• Inspecting equipment and inform senior employee if adjustment is required;
• analytical quality
• Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures
• Other duties as assigned.

About you

Required Qualifications

• Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time
• Ability to work in a hot and dusty environment
• Manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs; sometimes continuously (occasionally lifting may exceed 50lbs and assistance is mandatory from either another employee or the lift assist equipment)
• Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities
• Be cleanly-shaven in order to wear protective equipment.
