Job summary

ALS Limited is seeking a Sample Preparation Technician (P2) to prepare client samples for analysis in our labs, within the Sample Preparation Department. The role involves ringing, sieving, crushing, and loading/unloading ovens, while maintaining logs and ensuring lab cleanliness.

The position requires basic English communication, good hand-eye coordination, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team, with adherence to safety policies and procedures in a dynamic lab setting.

• Ringing and sieving materials, including International Soils.
• Crushing and splitting under supervision.
• Loading and unloading drying ovens under supervision.

• General cleaning duties for basic lab cleanliness.
• May assist with layout duties/tasks.
• Handling compositing and special handling requests, etc.
• Inspecting equipment and inform senior employee if adjustment is required.
• Observe established safety regulations and comply with ALS policies.

About the Position

Within the Sample Preparation Department, the Sample Preparation Technician (P2) will work with client samples and prepare them for analysis in our labs.

Specific Responsibilities

• Ringing, sieving (including International Soils)
• crushing
• splitting under direct supervision
• Loading and unloading drying ovens under supervision
• Maintain own production logs
• General cleaning duties for basic lab cleanliness
• May assists with layout duties/tasks
• Handling compositing, screen metallics, special handling requests, etc.
• Inspecting equipment and inform senior employee if adjustment is required
• analytical quality
• Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures
• Other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Good hand-eye coordination
• Good organizational skills
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Basic alpha/numeric comprehension
• Basic English communication skills (written and verbal).

Physical Demands

• Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time
• Ability to work in a hot and dusty environment
• Manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs; sometimes continuously (occasionally lifting may exceed 50lbs and assistance is mandatory from either another employee or the lift assist equipment)
• Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities
• Be cleanly-shaven in order to wear protective equipment
