Job summary

SPL is seeking a detail‑oriented Sample Management Technician to join our environmental testing lab in Kilgore, TX. You will handle intake, documentation, and organization of environmental samples to support compliance and decision‑making.

Responsibilities include logging samples in LIMS, labeling and distributing materials, and maintaining secure storage. A HS diploma is required with science background preferred; experience in fast-paced labs is a plus.

Qualifications

• Must have proven data entry and administrative support experience in fast-paced environments.
• LIMS experience is preferred and highly regarded.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required or highly beneficial.

• Verify samples meet condition standards and comply with policies and guidelines.
• Record sample information in laboratory software (LIMS).
• Label, organize, and distribute samples to appropriate personnel promptly.
• Maintain secure sample storage areas and oversee placement, retrieval, and disposal per protocols.
• Prepare sample kits and manage outbound shipments when required.
• Provide assistance to colleagues and support inventory and general operations.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment per safety standards.
• Complete tasks within timelines with accuracy and quality.

We’re searching for a detail-oriented Sample Management Technician to join our environmental testing lab in Kilgore, TX. In this role, you’ll handle the intake, documentation, and organization of environmental samples to support compliance and decision‑making. From logging samples into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to overseeing storage and distribution, your work ensures accuracy, efficiency, and integrity across the lab.

What You’ll Do

• Receive and document samples from clients, couriers, shipping, laboratory, and/or field staff
• Verify that all samples meet condition standards and comply with organizational policies, quality requirements, and applicable regulatory guidelines
• Accurately record sample information, details, and required analyses in laboratory software system
• Label, organize, and distribute samples to appropriate personnel in a timely manner
• Maintain orderly and secure sample storage areas and oversee the proper placement, retrieval, and disposal of samples in accordance with established protocols
• Prepare sample kits and manage outbound shipments as required
• Provide assistance to colleagues and support related operational functions, including inventory management, supply preparation, and general support activities
• Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment in alignment with company standards and safety requirements
• Complete assigned tasks within established timelines while upholding accuracy, quality, and procedural standards
• Perform other duties as assigned, within the scope of the position and training provided

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a science-related discipline preferred
• Demonstrated professional experience in data entry, administrative support, or clerical roles within high-volume, fast-paced environments
• Previous experience in laboratory sample management, such as sample receiving, handling, login, or tracking, strongly preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required; LIMS experience preferred
