Job summary

SPL is seeking a Laboratory Technician to prepare and analyze solid and semi-solid environmental samples, including soil, sludge, and sediment, in Conroe, TX. This role supports high-volume testing and ensures accurate data for regulatory compliance.

In this on-site position, you will perform sample prep, calibrate equipment, review data in LIMS, and collaborate with teammates to meet turnaround times and quality goals while maintaining documentation and safety practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree as specified, or equivalent experience.
  • Hands-on analytical laboratory experience, preferably in environmental testing.
  • Proficiency with laboratory instrumentation and MS Office; LIMS experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform sample preparation, extractions, digestions, and analytical testing of environmental samples.
  • Prepare solid and semi-solid matrices for analysis (soil, sludge, sediment).
  • Perform routine laboratory calculations, documentation, and data review.
  • Review, validate, and document analytical data in LIMS; escalate discrepancies as needed.
  • Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment per procedures.
  • Support QA/QC programs, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain organized, accurate, compliant laboratory records and documentation.
  • Collaborate with staff to meet turnaround times and client expectations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Laboratory Technician

We’re seeking a motivated Laboratory Technician to prepare and analyze solid and semi‑solid environmental samples, including soil, sludge, and sediment, within our fast‑paced environmental testing laboratory in Conroe, TX. This is an exciting opportunity for a laboratory professional who thrives in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment and enjoys hands‑on analytical testing, sample preparation, and producing accurate, high‑quality data in support of environmental compliance and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, safety‑focused, and motivated by supporting daily laboratory operations, quality initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts within a collaborative team environment.

What You’ll Do
  • Perform sample preparation, extractions, digestions, and analytical testing of environmental samples
  • Prepare solid and semi‑solid matrices for analysis, including soil, sludge, sediment, and related environmental samples
  • Perform routine laboratory calculations, documentation, and data review activities
  • Review, validate, and document analytical data within LIMS and escalate discrepancies or abnormal findings as needed
  • Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and instrumentation in accordance with established procedures
  • Support laboratory quality systems, QA/QC programs, audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintain organized, accurate, and compliant laboratory records and documentation
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff to meet turnaround times, productivity goals, and client expectations
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or related scientific discipline; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Demonstrated hands‑on analytical laboratory experience, preferably within an environmental testing laboratory
  • Prior hands‑on experience with laboratory instrumentation preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience with LIMS systems is a plus, but not required
