Job summary

SPL, Inc. in Kilgore, TX is seeking a detail-oriented Sample Management Technician to join our environmental testing lab. You will handle the intake, documentation, and organization of environmental samples, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications

• Experience in data entry, admin support, or clerical roles in high-volume environments.
• Prior laboratory sample management or handling experience is preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; LIMS experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Receive and document samples from clients, couriers, shipping, laboratory, and field staff.
• Verify samples meet condition standards and comply with policies and regulations.
• Accurately record sample information and required analyses in the laboratory system.
• Label, organize, and distribute samples to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
• Maintain orderly and secure sample storage areas and oversee disposal per protocol.
• Prepare sample kits and manage outbound shipments as required.
• Assist colleagues and support inventory, supplies, and general lab operations.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment per company standards.
• Complete assigned tasks within timelines while upholding accuracy and quality.
• Perform other duties as assigned within training.

We’re searching for a detail-oriented Sample Management Technician to join our environmental testing lab in Kilgore, TX.

In this role, you’ll handle the intake, documentation, and organization of environmental samples to support compliance and decision-making. From logging samples into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to overseeing storage and distribution, your work ensures accuracy, efficiency, and integrity across the lab.

What You’ll Do

• Receive and document samples from clients, couriers, shipping, laboratory, and/or field staff
• Verify that all samples meet condition standards and comply with organizational policies, quality requirements, and applicable regulatory guidelines
• Accurately record sample information, details, and required analyses in laboratory software system
• Label, organize, and distribute samples to appropriate personnel in a timely manner
• Maintain orderly and secure sample storage areas and oversee the proper placement, retrieval, and disposal of samples in accordance with established protocols
• Prepare sample kits and manage outbound shipments as required
• Provide assistance to colleagues and support related operational functions, including inventory management, supply preparation, and general support activities
• Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment in alignment with company standards and safety requirements
• Complete assigned tasks within established timelines while upholding accuracy, quality, and procedural standards
• Perform other duties as assigned, within the scope of the position and training provided

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a science-related discipline preferred
• Demonstrated professional experience in data entry, administrative support, or clerical roles within high-volume, fast-paced environments
• Previous experience in laboratory sample management, such as sample receiving, handling, login, or tracking, strongly preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required; LIMS experience preferred
