Job summary

BDO USA, LLP in the United States is seeking a Tax Intern for State and Local Tax who will perform basic research and analysis on SALT issues, assist with tax returns and filings, and learn from experienced professionals through coaching and hands-on experience.

You will develop a foundation in tax methodology, compliance, and software tools such as Caseware and Go Systems, while building relationships with team members and clients.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Bachelor or Masters program in Accounting, Taxation, Finance or other relevant field, Juris Doctorate (J.D) program, or Master of Laws (LLM) program, required
• Leadership experience, preferred
• Prior internship or other work experience within an accounting setting or public accounting, preferred
• Membership and participation in accounting or finance organizations at the college level, preferred

Responsibilities

• Performs basic research on federal and state tax issues
• Assists in tax compliance and filing
• Drafts tax memoranda and responses to notices
• Supports tax methodology and software tools
• Participates in client meetings as appropriate
