Job summary

PetSmart’s Salon Experience Lead (Groomer & Salon Trainer) is responsible for providing exceptional service to pet parents and supporting a high performing team while upholding the company’s vision, mission, values, and strategy. This role will deliver professional quality services with the upmost focus on quality and care of pets.

The Salon Experience Lead will support the development of bathers and new stylists, through the grooming program.

Qualifications

• 2+ years grooming experience; may be asked to complete a technical exam.
• Full time availability; ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
• Proficiency with tools, equipment and products to perform grooming work safely.
• Proficiency in computer applications and grooming software.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to stay organized and detail oriented.
• Ability to react under pressure and maintain composure; promote safety and animal welfare.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates associate experience and supports development including training, onboarding, mentoring, coaching and performance feedback.
• Develops new and existing associates through bather and stylist certification and academy training.
• Identify internal candidates to attend academy and become stylists; oversee tasks for salon.
• Address and administer associate complaints and grievances; recognize engaged team members.
• Manage pet parent interactions and drive rebooking, wellness recommendations, and marketing promotion awareness.
• Use booking system and logs to make reservations and perform appointment calls.
• Maintain store standards and ensure policies, procedures and ethics are followed.
• Perform full menu of grooming services and related stand-alone services per PetSmart standards.
• Promote salon sales to hit targets and metrics; monitor cleanliness and humane treatment of pets.
• Report facilities or supply needs to leadership; collaborate on best practices.
• Support other departments as needed and contribute to a positive work environment.
